File Protection Errors

Hi
I recently installed Win2K on my system, and then updated with SP4.
Everything was fine, but I have just started getting the error message "Files
thatare needed for windows to run properly have been replaced by unreqognised
versions. To maintain system stability please insert your windows CD" I do
this and the system appears to replace files, but when I restart the same
message appears. Has anybody any ideas here??

Try to install again the latest SP4 and this might be solved.

If this does not help, next time check the event log and post warning/error
here.

I had the same problem

Try This:

Click on start and run and type in each of these lines one at a time
and click on OK.
Regsvr32 softpub.dll
Regsvr32 initpki.dll
Regsvr32 mssip32.dll

Reboot machine and the problem should be removed.

Then install the new Microsoft Spyware tool and run a full scan.

I will try this before re-installing SP4.
I ran adaware, and spybot search last night, found tons of problems. Cant
understand, as I have an up to date firewall and virus software.

run sfc /purgecache and sfc /quiet at the command prompt and it will
take care of the issue.
