File opening error

Hello,

Error arises when I try to open Excel2000 file in Excel2003. This file was
created in Excel2000 and has size about 1,3MB. After saving it in Excel2003
it couldn't be opned in Excel2000 too. There are no such problems with other
files.

This file is very important work file, so I really need to get it repaired.
I'll appreciate any ideas.

Dmitri,

Have a look at the message by NickBVC on the 12th of August. My answer
there applies to you as well.

Hope that helps.

Kevin

Thank you for answering, Kevin!

I've tried your method, but unfortunately it hasn't worked.
I've tried to save file as html and as xml and back to xls.

I can open file in those formats (html, xml) without problems, so I have to
use them. In xls file format I have to make about 30(!) attemps to open file
before I got success.

Dmitri,

If you want, you can send your file to me and I will have a crack at it. I
am trusting that there is nothing malicious (no bad vba code that will hurt
my pc).

My email is khs042004 @ shaw.ca Just remove the spaces.

Hope this helps.

Kevin,

It's very kind of you. I've sent you that file.
It doesn't contain vba code at all and I do believe it has no viruses

Thank you in advance,
Dmitri

Dmitri,

I have received your file. I think it is fixed now and has been sent back to
you. You will have to check to see if all the data is still there. I hope
it is.

Best regards,
Kevin

Kevin,

Unfortunately, almost all data is lost, I've sent you the same file in xml
format which contains all data, so you can see how it is to look like.
