File Open Hangs when changing Look In

When I open an Office 2003 program (Using windows xp pro), then goto File>
Open and then click on the "Look In" list. The list takes a LONG time to
drop down as thought it is looking for something?? (This issue does not
happen in Acrobat using the same box)
 
I'm having the same problem with the same software. Anyone out there have
any solutions?
