file not saved

I have an excel file that is not very large and seems not to be unusual in
any way. When I open it to update and save it, I get a message saying "filen
ot saved". Why would this happen?

is this file file stored on a network drive?

Sometimes, an antivirus program can interfere with the save.

Sometimes, the user doesn't have the correct permissions to that drive/folder.

Sometimes, there can be hardware problems that cause this.
