RE Office XP - both Word 2002 and Excel 2002
when I click on File on the top menu bar - the only options I get now on
the drop down menu are Save, Save As, and the last 4 files opened. All else
has disappeared.
Any ideas?

Often Excel hides menu options that are not frequently used. Look and
see if there is a double arrow pointing downward at the bottom of your
drop down menu. Clicking on this double arrow should reveal all the
items for the menu.

Hope it helps.

I wish it was that easy. Thanks for trying. No double arrows.
However, I did receive the answer from the Word newsgroup and it worked for
both programs.

That is exactly what the previous poster was alluding to, so you must have
had the arrows.

Probably not the kind of arrows he was looking for, looks more like a
double chevron (in Excel 2002). You usually see a filled downward triangle
on such things as drop down menus, and a filled triangle pointing the right for
submenus on menus. .

But I expect that except for some Excel developer at Microsoft most people want
a "permanent" solution/return to show everything in the menus as they are used to
and which he received elsewhere.
