File Download Default Save Path

When I try to download a file in IE 6 from a website, it always defaults to
saving the file on the Desktop. It seems to me that IE used to remember the
previous path for saving files and use it as the default the next time
around. Is there a way to either specify the default path for file downloads
or to get IE to always default to saving files to the most recently used save
path?
