File created/modified date

I'm not sure really where to ask this. Can someone explain why the file
modified date would be earlier than the file created date? I have some files
I'm deleting and I'm going by the modified date but happened to check
properties of some and it says it was created after it was modified. I must
be missing something.

The system date was set before the file creation date when the file was
last modified.

Hi,

If you copy a file, the new file will have a new creation date, but
keeps the old modified date, so in this case the modified date would
be earlier than the file created date.
