Hi I'm trying to copy a file from a cd-r disk to my hard drive but it locks
up everytime and gives me an "invalid MS-DOS function" error message. Any
suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

How are you copying? Starting from the Command Prompt with
the Copy (or Xcopy) command? Or copying via drag-and-drop?

Im copying via drag and drop, or right click copy and then paste. Also to be
noted that other files on the same cd-r copy just fine.

Error Copying File
Cannot copy FILENAME: Invalid MS-DOS function.

Many reasons for the error.

Dirty or damaged CD.

Copyrighted material.

It depends on the file system used on the CD.

Sometimes the path or filename(s) can be too long.

The limit on Joliet filenames is 64 characters.

Some filenames may be up to 127 or 128 or 207 characters long including
spaces.

File extensions are also included in the file name.

Some file systems only allow 8.3 names. Some allow longnames.

Some filenames are case-sensitive.

Illegal characters or a space in the file name or path.

Mixed-case filenames can be a problem.

Some drives have problems with multisession CDs.

There can also be more reasons.
