File Compression

I'm running XP pro. I have several files I need to send
via email. I know how to create a Zip file, but there is
very little compression. How can I set it to highly
compress the zip folder so it can be emailed more easily?

Consider splitting the file. Use a UUencoder or a file splitter utility.
Be aware that mailing will increase file size by about one-third.

Not all files are highly compressible. Video, photo's and audio are some of
these.

To make video smaller, recompile the video into a lower resolution. To make
audio smaller, recompile it using a lower bitrate. To make photo's smaller,
open the file and then save it as a different file type (bitmap/TIFF into
JPEG)

The amount of compression that zipping it achieves depends on the
file type and the data it contains. For example, jpg files are
already compressed and zipping them doesn't make them appreciably
smaller (sometimes it even makes them larger).

If you are getting very little compression, that's probably the
nature of the file you're trying to compress, and there's little,
if anything, more to be gotten.
