File associations

Must be doing something wrong. I want to associate jpg files with the
Firefox browser, so I highlight a jpg file, go to Win Explorer > File
Associate > Always use selected program > Browse > Firefox.exe. It

gives me the option to Open or Cancel. Open doesn't appear to do
anything, sends me back to the original list of programs. ???
 
Have you tried; Right Click on file, Open With, Choose Program...browse to
program you want to open it with?

Have you tried; Right Click on file, Open With, Choose Program...browse to

Yep, that's the same dialog box, same thing happens.

you are facing problem only with the Firefox program, or any program you are
choosing for opening jpeg files are acting in the same manner?
what is the current program which is associated with the jpeg files? Windows
Fax and Picture Viewer?
 
Does the problem happen only while choosing Firefox program, or any other
program acts in the same manner?
What is the current program with what you have associated the jpeg files at
present, windows picture and fax viewer?

Any program not listed. Browse > Open doesn't seem to accomplish
anything.
