File Associations

I have a problem whereby my AV program associates a now no
longer used e-mail client when I seek support via their e-mail form
system. I have tried changing the associations for URL:Mailto in file
preferences but it doesn't make any difference. I have even tried
uninstalling the mail client. This just causes the PC to hang. Any
ideas??

Hi, Ian! I see that you made your own post - thank you!

See this article about setting your desired programs as default:
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=332003

If this doesn't do it for you, post back with this added information:

1. what antivirus program (name and version)
2. what was the old email program
3. what is the current email program
4. what browser.

Since you have the paid version of AVG, I think contacting their tech
support people might be your next step. Maybe someone else who uses AVG
Pro will read your post and have a more direct answer for you. Be
patient and contact AVG tech support in the meantime.

Sorry I didn't have the answer for you.
