File and Printer Sharing Since SP2

I have noticed that I am no longer able to share files or printers between
my two computers since I installed SP2 on the Windows XP computer. My other
machine has Windows ME and previously I was able to share files and the
printer between them. I have a Dlink wireless router (DI-514) and both of
them are still able to share an internet connection but are no longer
sharing files or printers. Now when I look at the Network on each machine I
only see the machine I am looking at. I can no longer see the other
machine. Is there a simple fix for this?

Thanks.

Hi,

Recheck the workgroup name for each, as the inability to see each other at
all indicates they are not using the same one.

If firewall was turned on with the SP2 installation, you may have to
configure it to all file and printer sharing.

Control panel -.> network & internet connections -> windows firewall
-> exception tab -> check file & printer sharing

I have both turned the Firewall on and off with no changes. I have also made
sure the Sharing boxes were checked when the Firewall was turned on. I
have also made sure the workgroups have the same name (as they did before).
I am using the default group name on both machines (MSHOME). The other
thing I noticed is that after I reboot each time I have to run the Network
Setup Wizard again or I am not even able to see the computer I am working on
listed in the Network. The XP machine opens the Network listing with no
computers listed. The ME machine won't open the Network listing at all. I
get an unable to open Network error. It is very puzzling since I don't
really see anyone else with these problems.
