Fields that contain e-mail addresses

When I type in an e-mail address into a field, Excel formats it
by changing it into a mailto: link which not only changes the
color of the font, but underlines the text in the field. I would
like just plain text. I looked under Tools -> Auto-Correct Options
but wasn't able to find anything. Where is this switch hidden?

start with a leading apostrophe (')
or pre-format the cell(s) as Text
