Field text converts to asian characters

Occasionally when saving a record in my database, characters in the fields in
that record are converted to asian characters. How do I prevent this from
happening?

Thanks Jerry.

The computer Language option for the computer is English (Aust), and the
Access Version is 2003, (this is through Help About - its not displayed in
the system info dialog). The language for Access (as shown in System Info) is
Chinese (Taiwan).

I've tried reinstalling the MS Office Professional package, but that hasn't
changed the setting. I cannot figure out how to change the database language
setting to English. Any suggestions?

Thanks alot for your prompt response.

Thanks Jerry,

I've tried each of these, however the language setting in system information
does not change from Chinese (Taiwan) for Access (or Excel or PowerPoint).

I will keep trying...

Thanks for your help.

One other thing to try. Open your forms in design view. Right click on the
test fields having the problem and bring up the Properties. Go to the Other
tab and set Allow AutoCorrect off. It may be the automatic spell checker
causing the problem. Unfortunately there isn't an easy way to turn off the
spell checker globally in Options or something.

Hi Jerry
I have had a small break through with the language settings. After trying
unsuccessfully to change the language setting in Access through the MS Office
2003 language setting dialog, I installed Service Pack 2. This seems to have
fixed the problem and the language setting in system info is now set to
English (US).

Fingers crossed that this has fixed the problem. Thanks alot for your help.
