field size in access

If the field type is number is there a way to limit the size of the field? I
need to create a flat file (ascii) from an access query but the field sizes
must be exact. Does anyone know how to create a flat file (ascii) from a
query? I have only been able to use a macro to create a .txt file, which
doesn't work.

Credit Lady,

Do you mean you need to export to a fixed-width text format? Run
through the process manually at first, by selecting the query in the
Database Window, and then via the File|Export menu. You can specify you
field width requirements here. When you get to the final screen of the
export wizard, click the Advanced button, and name and save your setup
as a Specification. You can then use this in the Specification Name
argument of a TransferText action in your macro.
