Field Name Change

I have a table that has about 20 fields in it. Because of various reasons I
need to run a query or mod that will change the name of one of the fields in
the table. Then after I append the data into the table it will change the
name back. How can I do this.
 
Sorry, but why? If all you're doing is appending data into the table, the
name of the field shouldn't matter.
