field help

How do I insert a field called customer, when it isnt on the list, I have to
insert various words into a letter, but none of them are on the field list.
Im a newbie.thankx in advance for any help.cid
I am using microsoft office xp
 
Where are you seeing these fields? In the Letter Wizard, or is this a mail
merge, or what?
