Feedback with All in Wonder Radeon

I am using ATI TV with All in Wonder Radeon on Windows 2000 with driver
version 6.13.10.6218. I have a Sound Blaster Live Sound card. I take the
output from the video card and put it into the Line-In of the sound card.

Now, everything works fine except when I try to raise the volume, I get a
lot of feedback in my speakers. I have muted my microphone, so I don't think
the feedback is coming from there. What else can I do to raise the volume?

Thanks,
MT

When I had a SB Live in my machine (also with an All In Wonder Radeon), I
connected the 2 together internally using a CDROM Audio type cable via the
AUX connector on the SB Live and it worked OK. Internal connections of this
type are also more professional than external patch cables which can easily
be accidentally unplugged. I remember that I had to do a bit of "plug
surgery" to get the connector pins arranged in the correct sequence. Now I
have a Turtle Beach SantaCruz instead of the Live!, I'm even more pleased
with its performance but the SB Live should be able to work adequately
(without distortion) with the AIW Radeon. Has this setup of yours always
given this problem or has it recently started happening - if so, what
changes have you made?

Until recently, I have never raised the volume beyond a certain level. I
think I figured out what the problem is though. I had the 20dB boost on my
microphone. Now, I believe there is a bug in the sound card drivers and it
still boosts the volume by 20dB even though the input is muted. I shut that
boost off and the feedback went away....

Thanks for your help....
