FEAR & Extraction Point

I recently up-graded to Vista Home Premium. I want to download FEAR &
Extraction Point. A box appears telling me that it is going to download
DirectX 9. If I click OK, will this affect Vista/DirectX 10? Is it going to
clash with DirectX 10? I am asking the community because I haven't found
someone who can answer this.
Thanx.

There is no problem loading DirectX 9...it will co-exist with DirectX10.

DirectX 9 actually contains DirectX 8, 7, 5, 3, 2, and 1 as well. DirectX 10
is the first DirectX to not install all the previous DirectX versions. (No,
there is no DirectX 4, but not sure about 6, can't recall).

OK. Having read that there's no problem, I downloaded FEAR and the Extraction
pack only to find that I can no longer play multiplayer with Halo 2, FEAR or
for that matter, anything else that involves multiplayer.
I uninstalled FEAR and the Extraction pack, yet I still can't play
multiplayer on Halo 2.....WHAT HAPPENED?

No idea, but DirectX doesn't really effect your systems ability to get
online. Check your drivers, maybe post the top half of your DXDiag file
here.

What happens when you try to get online in Fear or Halo? any messages of
note?

How did you "download" Fear, or were you just "installing" Fear?

Gotta be explicit when you're discussing this stuff, were not sitting in
front of your box. :)

Good luck,
A.
