That's the message I get when trying to use fdisk /x

disk 2 was my (dual booted with xp) master until i
deleted a linux partition and is now unacessible. Is
there any hope of saving the files in the old windows
partition??

Thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem with my dual os's, I could not
get into one of the operating systems and wanted to save
some files that were on the non running side. What I did
was right click my computer, click explore, I could see
the other drive(D) where my files were, I right clicked
on "D",clicked on explore and was able to see and get all
of the files I wanted. Afterwards I used Partion Magic to
format and repartion the "D" drive. Hope it works for
you, it worked for me.

Don't use FDISK with XP - rather go to Control Panel - Admin Tools -
Computer Management, select Disk Management and look lower right for the
graphic of the drive.
There you can r-click in partitions and take delete (or format if the
format is FAT or NTFS), or in Unallocated space and Create Partition.
