FBRESEAL and EWF RAM

According to the EWF RAM and Cloning Help page you set phase to 0, copy to
target, allow FBA, make any mods and then fbreseal to make a Gold image. THIS
DOS NOT seem to work. I can only get a final image if I make the Gold image
before fbreseal and then fbreseal each target.
Is this correct or am I doing something wrong.
Regards
Graham.

Off the top of my head, this is what I do below:

1. Configure EWF to start disabled.
2. Set the phase to 0 (ie: manual reseal).
3. Allow FBA to run.
4. Make any mods.
5. ewfmgr c: -enable
6. fbreseal

Hi Gordon.
No that does not work!
I am also finding that registry permmisions are changed by using EWF Cloning.
If I do the reseal and then copy to target I find that I have EWF RAM REG.
Now trying to put a system to bed this is the last thing I need!

Graham.

It works for me.

If you are doing EWF RAM (and not EWF RAM REG), are you sure you're copying
correctly? With EWF RAM, there is the EWF partition as well.

Hi Gordon.
I think so.
I have Clone set to 0.
EWF set to unchecked.
Build image.
Copy to target. Run on target system.
O/S and apps are 300MB.
Partitioned HD to bootable to 1200MB, set Data to 1200MB, set Userfiles to
32Gb and around 4GB unused.
If I run fbreseal after the FBA completes befor making Gold The system keeps
reporting a message box Windows has set upt your devices Reboot now YES or No.
Fbreseal is not removed and EWFmgr reports no EWF but with Ewfmgr C: I get a
status of RAM REG.
This is very frustrating.

Graham.

Hi Graham

If you does not copy EWG volume to cloned target you need
to create EWF volume on target media using following command:

rundll32 ewfdll.dll ConfigureEwf

to use RWF RAM. If EWF was disabled and then
EWF volume was deleted, then during the first start after that
EWF automatically starts and switchs to EWF RAM Reg.

Hi Stas.
I am getting NO Ewf Volume from ewfmgr but if I call ewfmgr c: I get EWF RAM
REG Enabled.
I have tried the rundll32 call as you say but this has no effect and
FBreseal is never removed.
So at which stage should I call FBreseal? and in what order. As explained
above the help page I have followed does not seem to work for me.

Also is there some effect on how the HDrive is prepared. I have made an 2G
Primary Active partition as C:. I have then a 2G (D:) for application
changing files, a 32G (E:) partition for user files made by the application
and some 2G unallocated. I have tried making D: and E: as either primary and
extended, which is correct please, primary or extended? Thanks.
Regards
Graham.
