Strange problem on a XP Pro with service pack1. If i try to install the fax
component the wizard completes ok. A fax printer briefly appears in the prin
ter folder and then disappears. The fax service in service manager is stoppe
d and is marked for deletion. On reboot the service is gone and the fax comp
onent is shown as not installed.

I have done a repair instillation as well as installing SP1 again.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you using an analog fax modem that is on the Windows XP HCL list?

Hi

Yep it's a "ESS SuperLink-M Data Fax Voice Modem" built in modem for a HP
omnibook xt6050 laptop using the Microsoft digitally signed drivers.

That does not mean it will work. Is it on the HCL list?

Then send me the faxsetup.log and I'll have it looked at.
