Frustrated with favorites
I've on a 1.4 GHz Athalon with 512 MB RAM and XP Pro and
IE 6 with all updates. I'm not running much in the way of
non-standard apps or services.
When I start IE, it works fine but randomly (more so if
I'm typing in a form or a URL however) the Favorites
Explorer Bar will suddenly jump into the window - even if
I've not made a keystroke or mouse move in a minute or
more. It then may dissapear - and reappear rapidly (like
once every second) for 5 seconds to a minute, then stop.
Generally the bar just shows up and steals the input
caret, so if I'm typing I lose my focus and miss
keystrokes repeatedly. Frustrating!
Sometimes the Favorites Bar seems to compete with another
Explorer Bar and they switch off rapidly. On other days I
can go for a hour without this behavior, but typically it
happens once a minute for a couple of seconds then
dissapears. I'm certainly not hitting CNTL-I or other
shortcuts that automatically trigger the bars.
This has been going on for four months maybe, past many
reboots. Anyone else seeing this or have ideas?!
