Fatal error

My daughter's machine was on one minute and the next was
a blank screen with "NTLDR Fatal error 57344 reading
boot.ini". Now it hangs in booting after "checking DMI
pool". Virus or system? Thanks, Duane

Have you downloaded the manufactures HD utility and ran a
scan? Can you bootup in safe mode? Have you tried a
chkdsk /f /r?

From the Recovery Console I ran fixmbr with no results,

chkdsk (without the switches) returned "found
unrepairable errors". Can't get to SafeMode before it
hangs up. I have to continually redect the HDD in Bios or
it won't recognize the HDD. I will look for disk util on
web for the ExelStor HDD.
