I recently installed Messenger Live and tried to initiate folder sharing.
Messenger indicates that my computer doesn't support folder sharing and I
must convert my FAT disk to NTFS. Are there any risks associated with this
and is it something I should do? Thank you.

Converting a FAT32 partition to NTFS using the converter utility in
Windows XP will usuall result in a highly inefficient 512 byte cluster
size on the converted NTFS drive.

Good luck
