fat 32 to ntfs

Please help! I want to convert from FAT to NTFS and
understand that the process may cause an error,
namely "windows could not start because the following file
is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers|Ntfs.sys" The
apparent remedy is to start with Windows XP cd in the
drive and repair the missing file. Problem; i do not have
windows XP cd as my computer was bought from Time and they
do not provide a copy.Could it be possible to perform the
procedure using my friends copy or will that cause further
problems ie; with the product registration or activating
XP Home, or anything else?

Use your friends CD. But search for the file on your hard drive first. You may have an i386 folder with it in it.

Thanks for the advice David, but if i find the file how
can i install it if i can't start windows again?
