Faint gridlines

Excel 2007 - Vista 64 bit
Everytime I open Excel, the new workbook has really faint gridlines.
I can go into Advanced Options/Display Options for the Worksheet and
individually change the gridlines for the open document but when I
open a NEW document the gridlines are faint again. It is similar to
having messed up the Normal Template in Word but I didn't think there
was a template for Excel. If there is, how do I make changes to it?

With earlier versions of Excel you could set up a Book.xlt file with
settings how you wanted them, and this is saved in your XLSTART folder - if
it is there when Excel starts, then this is the file which is taken as the
startup file, if not then Excel uses its own defaults.

I'm not sure if this still applies to XL2007, but if you look in Help under
startup and then "Customize the defaults for a workbook or worksheet by
using a template" (if this still exists) it will tell you more about it.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

1. Open a blank document and select all the sheets. (grid line changes are
sheet specific)
2. Click Save
3. Name the file Book
4. Change the Save as type to Excel Template or Excel Macro Enabled
Template and
5. Save it to the \XLStart folder.

This becomes the default workbook and the file that is opened when you start
Excel or click the New button.
