I Started getting the same type of Virus loaded bogus
microsoft updates in my E- mails that many others are
complaining about. Of course I did not open them. I have
recieved about ten of then each day for the past few days
But I didn't get any today. Now I'm getting "can't send
message to dftyf@hotmail "and various versions of this as
if I am sending random E-mails out. But I am not. Have I
picked up a worm somehow? Can anyone explain this.
Also, this may sound dumb but How do I make my anti-virus
scan the Emails that I am getting? I thought it does this
automatically but I have seen no evidence of this. I am
using Norton 2003.
I am fairly new to the world of computers but I am
learning fast.I am very thankful for any help.
This is not my real e-mail. That's A lesson I've learned
thanks to this newsgroup.

You may not like this but I can not give you other than generic advices,
though they are golden :)

1) Read in this forum a very important previous thread from: "Karl Levinson
[x y] mvp"
** READ THIS BEFORE POSTING - answers to frequently asked questions

2) Activate and configure your XP firewall as per above advices.

3) Download and configure the free Zone Alarm firewall

4) Configure your NAV. Your 2003 version is good, 2004 is moneygrubber. Go
through all its control panel options diligently!

5) Finally call your ISP and change mail account (POP3 e-mail address) and
notify only close friends if any on the change. Better if you set up a free
Yahoo mailbox and give that to them , rather than the real one. Even friends
can get a worm or virus that may read their address book and you are on the
hook again! I see for newsgroups you already learned the lesson. So did me,
lol.

6) Continue to read this forum and learn from others, especially MVP's
responses if you want security at all.
