Failed Side-by-Side Closure

I was using side-by-side comparison of two documents. After closing one, the
remaining document remained split side-by-side. How do I return the document
to its original view?

This is on Windows 2003 as part of the Office Suite.
 
Click the reset window position button on the compare toolbar.
