Hey everyone.

Anyone here use F-Prot for Dos?

I'm using it in a new computer that has no floppy drive, and F-prot does not
like that.

I'm using the following line in my "Send To" folder shortcut that includes
the /NOFLOPPY switch and it does not work:

C:\PROGRA~1\f-prot\F-PROT.EXE /NOFLOPPY

F-Prot still gives me an alert and won't continue. It is if the /NOFLOPPY
switch is not even working?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Just wondering if you intended to use "news.adelphia.net" as you online
user name? or when setting your news reader (Microsoft Outlook Express
6.00.2800.1158) up and it asked for a friendly name , that you just put in
your ISP's news set up?
It isn't a problem if you want to use news.adelphia.net as your online
name; but I was just wondering if you intended it that way?

No, I made a mistake as I was rushing this out. I noticed that too.

I like the fact that the DOS version is on-demand only. I don't want anyting
to use resources unless I tell it to. I scan files as needed.

jeff, you can turn the background scanning component of f-prot for
windows off if you don't want it to be active... i'm not sure, but i
suspect you can even choose to not install that part of the product...

k, btw, I have NOT been using *any* av since before last November (I think),
and I have not suffered any (knock on wood) infections as of yet. I do
however practice safe Hex, and have my XP system set so that I can see what
a file really is, and any suspect file if I want to run it, I simply take a
look using an Hex editor.
I of course would NOT recommend this to the average user and maybe not
to some seasoned users, well if they can't refuse the urge to open an
attachment from someone they don't know or if they insist on reading there
email using HTML instead of text only. I would not have even considered not
using some type of AV because of my insisting on using OE as my email/news
reader if I could not turn off the rendering of html in the preview Payne
and yes I still have the preview Payne enabled;but it only shows text ;o)

The windows version comes with a different commandline scanner, fpcmd.exe (I
think). You could try that one.
