I was recently afflicted with ezula. it constantly changes
my browser and the popups are ongoing. I have deleted most
of it but there is one file that I can't access. From what
I understand it embeds itself in explorer. I want it
completely off my computer, this is past a matter of
principle and is now a matter of hate. Any suggestions?

Hi Dave,
Download and run AdAware and perhaps also Spybot Search and Destroy. Just
do a google search to find them.

Greetings --

To deal with any sort of "adware" and/or "spyware," such as
Gator, Comet Cursors, Bonzai Buddy, or KaZaA that you've deliberately
(but without understanding the consequences) installed, two products
that are quite effective (at finding and removing this type of
scumware) are Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search &
Destroy from http://security.kolla.de/. Both have free evaluation
versions. It's even possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to
"immunize" your system against most future intrusions. I use both and
generally perform manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies,
etc.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate it. I
already have ad-aware and have run it. I also have a
firewall, but I disabled it a week or so ago to speed up
some updates and forgot about it. My fault! I am going to
get spybot now. I guess I'll have to live with the one
remaining folder that denies access. I never installed
this on purpose, or agreed to anything. This afternoon I
just fired up the machine and there on the tool bar was an
install icon, and when I put the pointer over it
said "installing Ezula"". I right clicked and left clicked
and couldn't stop it. Thats what really cracked my
marbles, just installing things on my computer without my
consent.there ought to be a law! Thanks again for the
responses!

Agreed, there should be a law. Also, no self-respecting developer should be
writing software that does this type of "drive by install". I'm a developer
myself and I know damn well if MY boss asked me to do something like that,
I'd be looking for another job!

I did hear of something like this being legislated.....
