Extremely slow startup

I recently reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled XP and SP2. Now it takes
about 30 min to startup. During most of this time, the screen is black
except for a black and white striped line at the bottom of the screen. Any
suggestions?

Heh, I used to have this problem until I realized it was m Flash drive
causing it. If you have anything plugged into the USB ports like a flash
drive, external HDD, etc.. ...try unplugging them and then plug them back in
and it should give Windows the boost it needs to finish the startup process.
I have no idea as to why it does that, but I was so relieved when I found out
that there was nothing wrong with my computer, just an annoying USB issue
with my Flash Drive :D
Give it a try and see what happens. Also make sure you don't have anything
plugged in there that shouldn't be :D

Start over. There's no sense troubleshooting a bad installation, just start
over. Make sure you have all required hardware drivers available.
