I'm using Outlook 2002 on my PC. The application:

.. Runs extreamly slow
.. Moving between folders is slow
.. Moving between messages is slow
.. Has issues with sending e-mails with huge attachments

I have tried re-loading the OS from scratch but with no
effect on the speed and effeciency.

Regards,

How big is your PST? Have you compacted it recently?

I have noticed the slow down/hang problems when changing
folders, or moving between emails. I was using Outlook
2002 SP3 on XP Pro (SP2).

I tried all the suggested fixes to combat the hang time
outlook was giving me in these scenarios.

Steps I have taken,
1. I have run scanpst on my personal folder several times.
2. I have compacted my pst several times (44 mb in size)
3. I have unchecked messanger
4. I have unchecked all the add-ins
5. I have repaired the install
6. I have reinstalled
7. I have turned off the preview pane.
8. I have deleted my profile in control panel->Mail and
added a new one.

9. I completely removed Office XP and Outlook, purchased
Office 2003 and installed it cleanly and updated to the
latest SP1 for Office 2003

10. Lather rinsed repeated the previous steps on Outlook
2003 only to find the same problems with or without
my .pst associated with the program.

The only thing that helped in 2003 was reading all mail
as text. Only problem is that reading html e-mails as
text sucks. If I wanted to read all e-mails as text I
would just go back to using Pine.

This problem seemed to pop up after I installed and set
my default browser to Firefox.

Of course I have tried setting it back to IE, but Outlook
still hangs and is slow to respond when changing folders,
or moving between emails. The sending attachments
slowdown I do not think is a defect, uploads take time
and I have not noticed a problem there.

I have used Outlook ever since it was released and have
never had a probelm till recently.
