Scott Martin

I need to extract select contacts from a database file
for a mailing. These were contacts that attended a club
meeting in 2000 but not 2001. The database file has
those that attended both meetings listed twice but with a
different year. I don't need to contact all members just
those that did not attend in 2001 but did in 2000. The
feilds of data that I have to work with are SSN, NAME,
ADDRESS AND YEAR ATTENDED.

How do I get Excel to group and select only those that
did not attend in 2001 so I can have only those names and
addresses sent to the printer? The database has over
10,000 contacts in it.

Scott, you could use AutoFilter. This way, you can filter
out the 2001's leaving only the 2000's. Highlight the
columns, then choose Data > Filter > Autofilter, this
will give you dropdown buttons in your header row.
