How do I extract Internet Explorer 5 from a Windows 2000 CD so that I
can stick in on an NT4.0 SP6 Workstation that still has IE 4.0? I don't
want IE 6 on the workstation and MS no longer has IE 5.5 available for
NT. Would doing this wreck the SP6?

You can't do that. You'll have to find a source of IE5.5 for NT elsewhere.

Shoulda saved those old AOL CDs, that's the best place I know of to
fine IE 5. Got Quicken 2000? I believe it installs IE 5. Check other
CDs you may have, there's several that have it.

Maybe on My Office XP cd?

Probably cuz' it's a buggy, bloated piece
of crap...

I had numerous problems with it here, that all
went away when I went back to 5.5 SP2.

I don't know. Put the CD in the drive, hold down the shift key to
prevent the CD from auto starting, then use Windows Explorer to examine
the disk. If you find a folder marked MISE or IE or similar that's
probably it but I'd expect Office XP to have IE6.x if it does have a
browser?

My Office 97 has IE 3.01, it's located in the Value Pack folder listed
as IEXPLORE.

I suspect Office 2000 might have IE 5.x but my Office 2000 CD isn't
available now, sorry.
