Extracting date from date/time field in access report

In the query I am using for my report, my field is formatted to a short date
so the query results show just the date (not the time) from the field. When
I use this query in my report, the field still shows date and time. How can
I format the field in the report to the short version (without the time); why
doesn't it retain the format that is in the query correctly?

Hi Pat,

The format is only for display, not what the actual contents are. The
query passes the actual contents to the report. Just apply the same format
to the control in the report, that should do it for you.

I had initially tried this in the report and it didn't work, but tried it
again after closing out of the program and receiving your suggestion, and it
worked. Thanks so much for a quick reply! This is always the best place to
get prompt help.
