Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to extract information out of a PDF file
into Excel.
I have some PDF reports which I would like to analyse in Excel.

Any help would be fine.

best regards,

first, not all PDF files are the same. There a a few different formats in
PDF plus some added protections that can prevent copying. Also some portions
of an excel file could be a picture and you would have to use the OCR
converter before going to text. This is my recommendations

1) Use Adobe Professsional.
2) In Adobe Professional there si a OCR converter to convert Pictures into
words
3) Adobe Professional has a converter to Microsoft word. Convert the
document to Word.
4) Finally import the Word document to Excel.

Note: You may get lucky and be able to copy sections of the PDF directly
into Excel by using copy (Cntl-C) in the PDF file and the use PasteSpecial in
Excel.

Perhaps the simplest way is to first tell Adobe, (or whatever PDF
program you use) to save the file in Text format.

Hi there
Thank you all for your comment. The Pdf's are made by an external party, so
I will have to convert the files first in order to analyze them in Excel.

best regards,

Maarten
