Extract data from an excel spreadsheet to update/append records

Hi guys, I'm quite new to this so any help would be greatly
appreciated.

I need to be able to extract data from an excel spreadsheet, and
update records in an MS Access database.

I'm sure there is a way of doing this via VBA code but could someone
please point me in the right direction, as I've got a mental block and
can't find where to start.
