I've created a template and customized the master title and master
slide layouts.

Whenever I try to created a new slide, I get extra text boxes over the
top of the boxes in the master slide. (These are not on the masters.)

Why are these extra text boxes appearing and how do I turn it off?

Thanks! -Cloy

Which version of PowerPoint do you use? Additional layouts can only be
created in PowerPoint 2007. What exactly did you do to "customize" that
master?

Hi Cloy

Sounds to me like you deleted the placeholders on your master and added your
own text boxes - this would mean any new slide would have the text boxes from
the master AND the placeholders associated with that slide layout (I'm
talking pre-2007 here by the way). To fix this delete your text boxes, add
the placeholders back into your master (Format->Master Layout...-> tick the
placeholders you want) and then format them as you want (Right-click on
placeholder->Format Placeholder...).

If you are using 2007 I have absolutely no idea :-)

Lucy,

That's exactly what happened. Although I can plead innocent -- the
document was developed by someone else and I was trying to clean it
up.

Thanks for your response!
