Hello-

I have 2 Extra Hard drives on my computer. They were set-up and installed by
someone else who I can not longer contact.

They were working just fine untill I goofed-up the BIOS or something else,
I'm really not sure where.

The 2 extra hard drives show up in my BIOS but Windows doesn't "See" them.
It's like windows doesn't even know that they are there.

Does anyone know what I might have done? Is there someway to make windows
find them?

My system drive is a Sata drive that works just fine. My 2 extra drives are
pluged into a card in my mother board.

Like I said they were working just fine until I did something in my BIOS. I
may have made the problem worst by goofing around with my "System
Configuration" trying to get windows to "SEE" them.

Help Please.......

Have your tried restoring the BIOS to its original configuration?

Yes, But my BIOS "Sees" them, XP PRO does not.

You'll need to open the computer management console (right-click on My
Computer and select Manage). On the left hand side of the window, look for
Disk Management. Highlight it and then scroll down on the bottom right pane.
I'm thinking your drive either has no drive letter assigned or is sharing
one. To change the drive letter, right click on the CD drive and select
ChangeDrive Letter and Path. Select the Change button, choose the first
drive letter available and OK. If, for some reason, Windows can't see the
drive in the Computer Management console, you should either the master/slave
jumpers on the drive are set correctly or change out your IDE cable.

Thank you HeeroYuy for your advice; however I realized after reading your
advice, that I have also "lost" my DVD drive, AND my CD R/W drive!

The only thing Windows XP Pro "Sees" is my system drive (C:)......

I have already been to the Disk Management, under Computer Management, and
as I stated alreay, the only drive Windows knows about is my system drive
(C:)...

If I remember, seems I was doing something in the "Device Manager",
something like the 1694? card? Slot? Uninstalling some driver? in hopes of
reinstalling it, but I think I tried to "Roll Back" and it could no longer
find the device, or driver.......

I'm sure now; that I think about it; that what caused Windows to "lose" the
extra hard drives, AND my DVD, AND my CD R/W drive is related to something I
did inside the "Device Manager". Now I think there is a "yellow backed
exclaimation point" there now.....

Does that help give you some clue as to what I might have done to mess-up my
system so bad?

Also when you mentioned checking the IDE cable, that raised another question
in my mind, (because I already checked the cable) does it matter what drive
is pluged into what cable end? there are to plugs on my cable, one on the
very end, and one further back, towards the plug that plugs into the card.

What a mess, huh? Maybe I should just take it to a "shop" and have someone
who knows what they are doing check it out?

Thanks for your time, and please advise me on what you think I should do!

Two things could possibly fix your problem: 1) System Restore... take your
computer back to just before you changed your system to the current
situation. 2) Boot off the Windows XP cd and perform a repair install.
