If your machine does not support USB from its BIOS, you'll need an add
on card to hook the drive up to. You'll also need DOS drivers so
that when you boot the machine to DOS, the drive will be "seen".

I'm assuming your 80 gbyte drive is a USB 2.0 drive: You need a USB
2.0 adaptor card and DOS drivers. In case you purchase a card without
DOS drivers there are several free DOS USB 2.0 drivers that you can
download. I have the drivers but I don't remember where I downloaded
them from. Do a Google search and you should be able to find some.

A set of tools that will work from DOS (or entirely standalone) and
handle external USB?Firewire drives for imaging are those from
www.bootitng.com - Image for DOS and BootIT NG itself

BING unfortunately, does not support all USB 2.0 external devices as I
recently found out. I love and use BING, however, it would not work
for my drive. Only True Image from Acronis worked to make a complete
and verifiable image that could be restored. I have not tried IFD but
my understanding is that it is the same as provided by BING.

Check: in the 1.60 version the external USB/Firewire support has been
extended. The other programs are usually kept in step , though they may
lag a week or two
