external hardrive problem

I just got the 200gb hdd from i bought from ebay and tested it out. I copy files onto it fine but when i try to play a file such as a video or mp3 it only plays about 40 seconds of it then it freezes. I tried it with many files but only to have the same result. any suggestions? thanks in advance.

yes, don't buy hard disks off ebay.

I'm with Techy on this, I'd never buy a HDD from ebay Try running "chkdsk" on it and see if it comes up with anything
