External harddrive not accessible using Windows XP

Hi

I'm having issues with my external Maxtor OneTouch harddrive. I used
the drive since 2 years now. Since one week, I can't reach / access
the drive using Windows XP (SP2) anymore.

Following things I tried already.

- from Windows explorer or command prompt, I can't access the drive ->
"not accessible"
- using freeware-tool "testdisk" (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/
TestDisk), I was able to see the partition and the table of contents -
so I expect, that the data must be still available somehow...
- with Windows "Computer Management" console, I can see the drive
(having a drive-letter assigned); the status is "healthy", file-system
indication is "empty" (with my primary internal drive it's NTFS)...

Can anybody please tell me, where the issue is? Somehow, Windows
doesn't seem to be able to read it, even if it's still here...
testdisk can at least show the directories and files...

Thanks a lot for your support!

Unfortunately not. The drive is not visible on any of the computers I
have around... a good sign for me is, that I can see at least the
directory- and file-listing using the mentioned "testdisk" tool.
Therefore, I assume, that Windows XP has a problem and not my drive...
something wrong with header, boot record, ...? No idea! :-(

Every help is very appreciated!

Thanks a lot, cheers, Salvi
