external hard disk

Hi there,
I have an iomega external HD attached to my pc. When
winxp starts, I get a "server busy" message. Ironically,
when I unplug the HD, the "server busy" message vanishes.
I get a message "Log file initialization error on drive
F:" (external HD). After that, I can plug the HD to my
computer again without any probs. Any solutions?
