External Copy: File format is not valid

I am running Excel 97 on a Windows 2000 workstation. I
have one file that gives me an error every time I open
it. The message reads "External Copy: file format is not
valid" It comes up three times and I click "ok" each time
and the file seems to open with no problems.

What is causing this error? How can I remove it?

Thank you any way, but I was able to fix the problem. It
was due to some links in the workbook, that were linked
to .txt files. I removed them and the problem went away.
