External 2.5" USB Hard Drive

I just bought a 2.5" Hitachi Hard Drive connected by USB and my problem is
that when I plug it in, it doesnt come up in my computer. I go into disk
management and it doesnt come up either. If i go into device manager it is
there and says no driver installed. If I install the driver it still doesnt
show up in my computer and if I unplug it and plug it in again, it says no
driver installed again. I downloaded TweakUI just to see if there was
anything in there that I can do but found nothing. I have ran out of ideas
and would appreciate any help. Thank You.

Did you properly attach the power supply cord
to the drive enclosure and plug it in the wall outlet?
Is there an on/off switch on the back of the drive enclosure?

The power is supplied through the usb cable and there is no on/off switch on
the back. I know that this works because i have another hard drive that I
have been using for a while and if I plug that one in, everything works fine.
When it is plugged in, the hard drive spins up and sounds normal.

An external USB hard drive should (must?) have it's own power source. It
draws too much current to run from the USB bus. Yes, there are those who
have been able to do it, but it is not recommended.

I've never had a problem with running one. It draws 10 ma from the usb port.
I just checked it in device manager. I checked the links and the bottom one
for the drivers that refers to Agatetech doesnt work. That domain is for
sale. Thanks for help.

It is not very clear what kind of hardware that you have. I
have a 2 1/2 enclosure that the HDD slides into. I then have
a USB cable which works on most machines. However on the
boxes and HDD's that it won't work with I have another power
cable that has a power end and on the other end it has a Y for
another USB slot and a PS2 for a PS2 pins for extra power.
