Extended Attributes on NTFS?

I recently got a new computer with NT 5.1 installed. (It is a Dell
Optiplex GX260.) I had high hopes for NT 5.1 as I had been using 5.0
for some time. I'm curious - does anyone know when (or if) NTFS will
support these?

I remembered these, as I was discussing the evolution of NTFS from
HPFS after the MS/IBM split in the early '90s. I remember one of the
cool things about OS/2 1.3 and 2.1 was the ability to get file
information without needing the extensions.

If it does, is there a way to access them? I notice that I have
ntfs.sys version 5.1.2600.1106.

Thanks in advance!

AFAIK the method of doing extended attributes used in HPFS has never
been brought into NTFS - and probably never will. But you can get
extended file information (held in NTFS Metadata) by a r-click of a
file and explore its Properties, and many items can be made columns in
an Explorer Details view
