Expressions questions

FWIW--I downloaded the EWD beta on Friday and I'm loving it. I can't wait to
do my first upload. EWD does for easy, clean web design what Windows 3.0 did
for PCs.

Sounds like one dream weaver is quaking.

I just took a look at the training videos. Wow! The time is right for this
considering the state of the W3C. Seems most standards are fairly in place,
so we can finally benefit in a big way from the stability of the standards
and a great editing tool.

This is SO awesome!

If I download the test version of Expression Web Designer, will I still be
able to run my FrontPage? Will the two programs co-exist ok?
Thanks,
clive

You should never run Beta software on a machine you use for real work.

The two programs will co-exist, but as Bob said, be very cautious about
running Beta software on a production machine.

Ronx & Bob,
Thanks for the info. Instead of downloading the test version, I think I'll
use the Virtual Labs for Expression Web Designer. I tried it once. You're
pretty much on your own but, with some knowledge of FrontPage, you can figure
out a few things.

Coming from FrontPage you will find some things familiar like DWTs but in
other areas such as CSS and actually writing code to the doctype specified
EWD is quite different.

We've put up some tutorial on using EWD, particularly related to CSS and a
bit on XML data connection at http://by-expression.com/tutorials

FWIW, I run EWD on my primary system with Office 2007 as well as FrontPage
2003 but I have a nice clean image that I can go back to at a moment's
notice without any beta software on it and I do not store any data on my
operating system drives (yes drives since I dual boot to Vista - using a
tablet PC I can't test tablet features in a virtual machine so that means I
have to run it directly on my hardware) but that is not for the faint of
heart or those who are not comfortable with creating images, backing up
frequently and possibly needing to reformat/reinstall.
