Export to Excel Problems

I have a report in MsAccess that I want to export to Excel. To export to
Excel, I'm usin MsAccess' function (i.e. Tools/Office Links\Analyze It With
Ms Excel or Files\Export). The report has 3 groups.

The problems that I'm having are:
1) The exported columns in Excel are out of order. For example, I have
SalesID, PN, Qty, Cost. But in Excel, It came out as Cost, PN, Qty, SalesID.

2)The running total that I created on the report did not get exported. I
have about 12 columns in the report and 6 of those columns need a sub-total
and the grand total.

3) For the PN column (type text) and the format is XX-XXXXX (2 numbers,
dash, 5 numbers). But when it got into Excel, the number changed. For
example, if PN is orignally 97-0003, in Excel, it's 35521 or excluded the
first 2 characters and shows -0003 instead.

Has anyone had these kinds of problems? Any pointers would help because it's
taking us such a long time to fix them after export. Thanks in advance.

Instead of exporting a report, try exporting a query that looks a lot like
the report. You probably will need to recreate any totals in Excel; however,
you can have better control of things like formatting in a query by using the
format function.

BTW: It's probably converting the PN to the numerical equivelant of a date.
The year 1997 is about 35000 days since 12/31/1899.

Thanks Jerry for your response. It's just time consuming to have to do
sub-totals in Excel because there are quite a few subgroups.
Also, I just can't believe that it's so hard to export between Microsoft
products. I would understand if it were exporting between different products
by different companies...
Thanks again for your response.
