I'm having the same problem with no success finding the answer. It seems to
have started after one of the recent security updates. I can't view Yahoo
or CBS News video as a result.
I also have this problem. Whenever I click on a link to
streaming audio or video, IE crashes with the
message "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close."
I am running Windows ME, IE 6 SP1, and WMP 9. I have all
the recent updates (one of which seems to have caused the
problem).
Some websites let you choose between using Media Player
and Real Player, and when I use Real Player everything
works fine.
Here is the signature I get in the error report generated
by IE:
I have searched the MS Knowledge Base to no avail. The
closest match I have found is 299318 - "Internet Explorer
6 Stops Responding When You Play Streaming Audio", but the
description does not quite match and there is no fix
anyway.
I guess we will just have to wait for the next Media
Player update and hope that the problem is fixed then.
